Anna Faris has shared her response after producer Chuck Lorre made comments about her in his newly released memoir. The actress addressed the controversy in an Instagram post while also sharing a personal update about her sobriety. The response comes days after Lorre reflected on her departure from the hit sitcom “Mom.”

On October 16, Anna Faris revealed that she had read excerpts from Chuck Lorre’s memoir, “Sitcom: A Memoir,” released on October 13 by Dey Street Books. The actress admitted that some of the producer’s comments caught her off guard.

“Yikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn’t see that coming. Of course it hurts,” she wrote. Despite her reaction, Faris expressed gratitude for her time on “Mom,” where she starred as Christy Plunkett for seven seasons.

“Chuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted,” she continued. “I’m proud of what we made together, and nothing changes how grateful I am for those people and those years.”

The actress also shared a significant personal milestone, revealing she has been sober for a year and a half. “I’ve been sober for a year and a half,” Faris wrote. “Now I’m healthy, I’m working, and I’m happier than I’ve been in a long time. If anyone reading this is where I was, I hope that’s useful. It gets better. I’m proof.”

Faris’ statement came after Lorre discussed her exit from “Mom” in “Sitcom: A Memoir.” The television producer admitted he was initially reluctant to cast her before ultimately changing his mind. He also wrote that her departure ahead of the show’s eighth and final season happened for “mysterious reasons.” He then suggested his early doubts about casting her had been “correct.”

Faris left the CBS sitcom in 2020 to pursue other opportunities. In recent interviews, she has also spoken openly about experiencing depression and recognizing the connection between alcohol use and her mental health. Her latest message focused on recovery while reflecting on a career chapter she said she still appreciates.
