The festivities featured local food and goodies, swan-themed decor, and a "killer" DJ set
"We are excited to see where 2026 takes us. We know this is just the beginning, and we are so excited for the life we will create together," the couple tells PEOPLE
Heather Shaw swapped punchlines for vows when she wed her longtime love, Lilly Jean Coiner, on New Year's Eve.
The stand-up comedian, 37, tied the knot with the attorney, 26, in a wedding they describe as "the New Year’s Eve party to end all New Year’s Eve parties" on Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 21c Museum Hotel Louisville in Kentucky. The "dark, romantic" affair was attended by 75 guests and had "gothic vibes."
"Our priority was to create an intimate ceremony surrounded by the people we love the most, especially those who have supported our relationship from the beginning," the couple exclusively tells PEOPLE. "We wanted our people to have a blast at our celebration, and not sit through a lengthy ceremony or a two-hour stuffy seated dinner."

The couple adds, "We want everyone to eat, drink, and be merry (and married)."
The festivities began on Tuesday, Dec. 30, with a Cocktails & Confections welcome party inside the venue's penthouse. Partygoers were served bubbly and baklava in honor of Coiner's Lebanese heritage. Welcome gift bags were provided by Coiner's mother, Susie, who owns bbQ & More in Paducah, Kentucky.

On the wedding day, which avoided "traditional pitfalls," the couple's grandmothers walked down the aisle together in lieu of flower girls. Lana Del Rey's "Video Games" played during the procession, in which Coiner wore a beaded gown with a sculpted silhouette accentuated by low side cutouts from Rebecca’s Wedding Boutique while Shaw opted for a "perfectly tailored" custom suit from SuitShop.
To Shaw and Coiner, marriage means "spending the rest of our lives with our best friend!"
Wanting to "save their vulnerable moments for just one another," Shaw and Coiner shared their handwritten vows in private. They kept their ceremony "short and sweet," exchanging wedding rings from Holden. The couple's "dear friend" and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear's chief of staff, La Tasha Buckner, officiated.
"We are excited to see where 2026 takes us," the newlyweds gush. "We know this is just the beginning and we are so excited for the life we will create together."

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed Coiner's late father’s favorite cocktail, the "Coiner Concoction," which is a mix of vodka, soda, and a splash of grapefruit juice.
At the reception, everyone listened to a "killer playlist" from DJ Heather Yenawine as they filled their plates with the couple's favorite nibbles from a massive charcuterie board, French fry bar, and other food stations. For dessert, the couple enjoyed a "damn good" vegan chocolate wedding cake baked by Coiner's aunt, Val, while guests were served an assortment of European pastries, including eclairs, macaroons, cheesecakes, and mousse cakes, from Blue Dog Bakery & Cafe.
Late-night bites of pizza from local pizzeria Emmy Squared was served in custom wedding-branded swan boxes.
"Our theme is heavily focused on swans, as we love the symbolism they mate for life," Shaw and Coiner say.

The couple chose to wed in Kentucky because of Coiner's deep family ties to the Commonwealth. Shaw joined Coiner in The Bluegrass State when they moved in together four years ago.
"We love the pace of life, living close to Lilly Jean’s family, having a big yard for our two dogs, Edie and Norman, and their cat, Jack, and the close-knit queer community," Shaw says.

Shaw and Coiner's romance began years ago when Coiner messaged Shaw on Instagram. She had a "longtime virtual crush" on the popular content creator, who has 2.8 million followers on TikTok, nearly 900,000 followers on Instagram, and about 480,000 followers on Facebook.
Eventually, Shaw popped the question in a stunning rooftop proposal in Lexington, Kentucky. Afterward, she surprised Coiner with an engagement party at their home attended by their closest family and friends.
Going into the new year, Shaw is excited to film her first stand-up comedy special in January in Janesville, Wisconsin, and begin her new national stand-up tour. Meanwhile, Coiner is looking forward to her second year of practice as an attorney.
