- Jennifer Grey celebrated Tracy Pollan's 66th birthday by sharing a topless photo of the two BFFs in the 1980s.

- The native New Yorkers first met as classmates at the private Dalton School in the late 1970s.

- They went on to costar in a 1984 *ABC Afterschool Special *before forging their own acting careers.

*Dirty Dancing* star Jennifer Grey posted a provocative photo to wish her longtime best friend Traci Pollan a happy 66th birthday.

In the 1980s-era snapshot, the two actresses are posing topless on a beach. Pollan, who married Michael J. Fox in 1988, wears a blue bikini bottom; while Grey is in pink.

"Friendship like this is [glowing star emoji]. 'If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting… time after time,'" the *Ferris Bueller's Day Off* actress captioned her Instagram post, quoting Cyndi Lauper's 1984 ballad.

"Hahahaha I love you!!" Pollan commented. An hour later, she added another reply, three red heart emojis.

Grey, who turned 66 on March 26, and Pollan have been friends since the late 1970s, when the two met as classmates at the private Dalton School in Manhattan.

Not too much has changed over the years, like their washboard abs, which a few of Grey's followers pointed out in the comments of her post. Two decades ago, the actress went on record to marvel at her pal's resilient physique.

"She has the same stomach she had in high school," Grey said in a 2000 profile on Pollan for PEOPLE. "After three kids, that's like a miracle!" The following year, Pollan and Fox welcomed their fourth, daughter Esme, who joined son Sam and twin girls Aquinnah and Schuyler.

After high school, the two actresses were both cast in a 1984 *ABC Afterschool Special* titled "The Great Love Experiment" before forging their own paths in Hollywood.

Pollan found early success on the small screen, most notably as Ellen, Fox's girlfriend on *Family Ties*. After the real-life couple married in 1988, Pollan focused on motherhood before returning to TV for roles on *Spin City*, *Law and Order: Special Victims Unit*, and *Medium*.

Grey, the daughter of Academy Award and Tony Award-winning actor Joel Grey, made a name for herself in movies including *Red Dawn*, *Ferris Bueller's Day Off*, and *Dirty Dancing* — and briefly, as the girlfriend of Fox before he fell in love with Pollan on the set of 1988's *Bright Lights, Big City*.
