On August 18, Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. issued a recall for select Outshine Fruit Bars after receiving consumer reports of glass in the product. The bars were distributed to retailers across the country, potentially including Walmart, Target, and Kroger. Use the product details below to determine whether your Outshine bars are part of the recall.

Product Information -

Products: Outshine Fruit Bars in Strawberry, Grape, Watermelon, Black Cherry, and Tangerine, plus select Variety Packs

Packaging: 6-count and 24-count boxes of 2.5-ounce bars

Sold: Retailers nationwide

The recall includes certain 6-count boxes of 2.5-ounce Outshine Fruit Bars in five flavors: Strawberry, Grape, Watermelon, Black Cherry, and Tangerine. It also includes 24-count, 2.5-ounce Outshine Variety Pack Fruit Bars. No other Outshine products are part of the recall.

The identifying information is printed on the bottom of each box. Look for the UPC, batch code, and best-before date, then compare all three with the list of recalled products in the FDA announcement. Having a recalled flavor or package size alone doesn’t necessarily mean the fruit bars are recalled; the UPC, batch code, and best-before date must also match.

Dreyer’s said the affected products were “distributed to retailers nationwide” but did not further identify any specific retailers. However, Outshine Fruit Bars are sold at Walmart, Target, Kroger, Dollar General, and many local grocers.

What To Do If You Have the Recalled Fruit Bars

Do not eat any Outshine Fruit Bars that match the product details in the recall. Instead, throw the box out or bring it back to the store for a refund. For questions about the recall, contact Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream Customer Service at 800-392-4885, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

In its press release, Dreyer’s says no illnesses or injuries have been reported as of August 18. If you’re concerned about an injury, contact a health care provider immediately.
