Officers from Nottinghamshire Constabulary were compelled to step in on Thursday afternoon as wellwishers surrounded Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's Range Rover outside Epic Partners on Edale Road in Nottingham.
The couple had just finished their final engagement of the day when the gathered crowd prevented their vehicle from departing.
GB News' Specialist Royal Editor Dorothy Reddin was present at the scene and captured footage of police instructing onlookers to "tuck in" and "keep shuffling back" to allow the car to pass, reassuring them: "You'll get a view, don't worry."
After some effort, officers succeeded in creating enough space between the crowds for the vehicle to move through safely.
Police cars were stationed on nearby streets, with an unmarked vehicle also positioned to restrict access to Edale Road.
The Duke and Duchess were shadowed by their own private security detail throughout all three Nottingham engagements.
Nottingham City Council deployed Community Protection Officers to help manage the public, and barricades were erected outside the recording studio to control the gathering crowds.
The layered security operation, combining private bodyguards, council officers, marked and unmarked police vehicles, and physical barriers, suggested a carefully coordinated approach to safeguarding the couple during what proved to be a day of significant public interest.

Harry continues to lack automatic police protection in the UK, though individual constabularies retain the discretion to provide cover when they deem it necessary for visits within their jurisdiction.
The Duke previously held International Protected Persons Status as a senior working royal, but this was downgraded following his and Meghan's departure from Britain in 2020. He has been challenging that decision since September of that year.

His legal fight against the Home Office concluded unsuccessfully in May 2025, after which he declared he could not envisage bringing his family back to the UK.
Since the couple's return to Britain in late August, Ravec has commissioned Risk Management Board threat assessments for both Harry and Meghan, the results of which remain pending.
The Duke is seeking permanent reinstatement to the Ravec cohort, the group of senior public figures who receive automatic police protection.
The Nottingham outing marked the first time Harry and Meghan had carried out a joint public engagement in the UK since stepping back from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to the United States.
The city holds particular significance for the couple, as it was where they undertook their first official appearance together in 2017.
They visited three locations across the day, having moved back to Britain with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in August.
