In the midst of her successful acting career, Kate Hudson finds the time to practice mindfulness.

For Hudson, feeling at peace “comes from feeling liberated,” which “comes from having less attachment to things and expectations of things.”
“Once you let go of your attachment and expectations that things are supposed to be a certain way, you can find much more peace in your life,” Hudson explains.
“Attachments are hard,” the mom of three says. “We're all so attached to the things, and we're all inundated with the way things are supposed to be or what they're supposed to look like. You actually have to actively work at detaching yourself from those things... It's not an easy thing to do.”

The work Hudson commits herself to, she says, is meditation. “Some people think it's woo-woo, but actually, you start out [with] Buddhism, like actually meditating and actually taking time for yourself and tuning into yourself, what really, really matters is daily.”
The Almost Famous star concludes, “Daily is so important. It's so important because everything can be so convoluted. There's so much going on. It can feel incredibly overwhelming in this world right now.”
Hudson’s performance in Song Sung Blue, director Craig Brewer's musical biopic about a Neil Diamond tribute band, has garnered wide praise. Her portrayal of the real-life Claire Sardina from Lightning & Thunder has landed her a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture for a Musical or Comedy at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
The star and Hugh Jackman, who plays Mike Sardina in Song Sung Blue, won the inaugural Gotham Musical Tribute award at the 35th Annual Gotham Awards. During her acceptance speech, Hudson said that “harmonizing and performing” with Jackman has been one of the “great joys” of her career.
Song Sung Blue hits theaters on Dec. 25.
