The largest blown lead after 54 holes on the PGA Tour has happened nine different times but only once in a major.

Everyone remembers the Greg Norman collapse at Augusta National to give up the Masters to Nick Faldo in 1996.

Current world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was also on the wrong end of one of these. The latest time it happened was the PGA Tour's season opener three years ago.

Wyndham Clark started the final round of the 2026 U.S. Open with a six-shot lead. According to the U.S. Open media guide, the "largest 54-hole lead by a non-winner" is five, which is what happened to Mike Brady at Brae Burn CC in the 1919 U.S. Open. Arnold Palmer famously has the biggest U.S. Open comeback when he rallied from seven shots down at the 1960 U.S. Open at Cherry Hills.

The four majors are not run by the PGA Tour, of course, but they are acknowledged as official events and there's only one six-shot blown lead in a major on this list.
