Peter Parker (Tom Holland) simply cannot catch a break in the newest *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* trailer.

The friendly neighborhood superhero finds himself going toe-to-toe with a whole collection of baddies throughout the clip, but none are more surprising than his unexpected battle against Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

To be fair, it doesn’t seem like the Hulk *wants* to fight Spider-Man. Rather, a mysterious individual speaking with Spidey lifts their arms and appears to trigger Bruce to transform into the Hulk. As the Big Guy looms over Spider-Man, the webslinger squeaks, “I didn’t know you could get that big.”

It’s clear that Mr. Stark and the rest of the Avengers didn’t teach Peter the “sun’s getting real low” method of calming down the Hulk — not that it worked for Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in *Ragnarok* — because the next scene shows the superhero sprinting full speed down a hallway as the Hulk claps his hands together and unleashes a sonic blast.

The pair can later be seen getting blasted out of a skyscraper, with the Hulk webbed up within its descending debris.

Tom Holland recalls asking Zendaya a question on set that he would 'never dream of saying' to another actress

Zendaya and Tom Holland attend a photocall for "Spiderman: No Way Home" at The Old Sessions House on December 05, 2021 in London, England.

Fight aside, it looks like Peter and Bruce actually get along rather well. An earlier segment shows Peter stopping by the college professor's classroom to ask how he learned to suppress mutating DNA — a problem that Peter has recently begun experiencing himself.

“Could you get rid of the bad aspects but keep the good?” he asks. To which Bruce responds, “How would you decide what parts of nature are good or bad?”

The trailer also gives fans a look at *Brand New Day*’s big bad, a mysterious figure who has the ability to take over other people’s bodies. When they threaten to pay MJ (Zendaya) a visit, Peter has no choice but to get his former flame to safety — even if she no longer remembers that he's the man behind the mask following the events of *No Way Home*.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Other footage in the trailer shows Peter facing off against the organization the Hand, Scorpion (Michael Mando), and a collection of armed guards. Although, he takes a beat to stretch before battling the latter, quipping, “I’m not in high school anymore.”

Thankfully, he’s not going it alone. In addition to Bruce, Peter also ends up seeking help from Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), who begrudgingly aids the superhero on his quest.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (*Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings*),* Brand New Day* also stars Jacob Batalon, Tramell Tillman, and* Stranger Things *star Sadie Sink as a top secret character.

The film is set to swing into theaters on July 31. Watch the trailer above.
