A new interview will soon begin as Sam Reid's Lestat de Lioncourt takes the stage to set the record straight.

AMC has released the official trailer for *Interview With the Vampire *season 3, renamed *The Vampire Lestat*, finally giving fans a taste of what's in store for the next installment of late author Anne Rice's Immortal Universe.

Lestat is back in his full glory in the fabulously grim footage, which boasts his throaty rendition of Billy Idol's iconic hit "Dancing With Myself." The trailer also teases how the new season will showcase Lestat's run as the world's first immortal rock star, as he embarks on an electric multicity tour.

But life after death isn't all screaming crowds and wild parties for the tortured soul — Lestat continues to be haunted by "muses" from his rebellious past.

While Lestat has taken full advantage of his newfound freedom since vampires were outed by Daniel Molloy (Eric Bobosian)'s published interviews with his star-crossed lover, Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson), he is also hell-bent on giving his side of the story.

"You've been alive and undead for 265 years," Daniel's voice reminds Lestat in the opening of the trailer as the bloodsucker struts down a hallway to take his place on stage. "You witnessed the French Revolution, the electric light, the atomic bomb... Why music? Why now?"

As Lestat explains, "We're doing a rewrite."

The show's official synopsis reads: "As his band’s popularity and star power rises so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population."

This is hinted at in the trailer, which at one point shows Lestat fighting off waves of vampires as he contends with carving out his place in this ever-changing world.

"I've been a monster. This is my reckoning," he says in the trailer. "I am the Vampire Lestat. I am a god."

In addition to Reid, Anderson, and Bogosian, *The Vampire Lestat* stars Assad Zaman, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle. The show was executive-produced by producer Mark Johnson; creator, writer, and showrunner Rolin Jones; Hannah Moscovitch; late author Anne Rice, whose *Vampire Chronicles* book series inspired the show; and her son, Christopher Rice.
