Judy Greer recalls meeting Jennifer Garner and discovering how special 13 Going on 30 would be

Garner tells PEOPLE about the film's set and what she remembers about the environment curated by Greer

Greer shares her story as part of PEOPLE's Costar Album

Judy Greer is grateful her movie friendship with Jennifer Garner has stood the test of time.

While sitting down with PEOPLE and going through her Co-Star Album, the actress, 50, reminisces about meeting her 13 Going on 30 co-star turned close friend at an early rehearsal for the film.

Joking about Garner's known friendly disposition, Greer facetiously began, "Well, she's such a bitch, you know? Like, no one knows that about her."

Laughing, she adds, "Can you imagine? She's like the most loved person in the world."

"I just will never forget her walking into that room and just thinking, 'I have to be on really good behavior because this is a really good person.' And she was so lovely and she was so excited, and she took the work so seriously. I just was really excited by how much fun she wanted to have and how excited she was to have the role."

Of herself, Garner, and Mark Ruffalo, Greer continued, "I think the three of us really felt like this is really something special and we're really lucky to be here."

Greer credited late director Gary Winick for "making this so fun, so filled with love."

"I miss him so much. He's since passed away, and we can't ever talk about the movie without mentioning Gary because he created this atmosphere of just love, support, happiness. He was tickled by us, all the time. He was always giggling."

She continued, " I wonder if that's what people respond to with 13 Going on 30, is the fact that this is a big studio romantic comedy, but it's told from the perspective of a person who wants to make an art movie about growing up and falling in love."

"And so, I think that's why it still today stands the test of time. I think we all knew that it was going to be different than anything we'd ever done and we all hoped that we were and we did."

Of their relationship today, she adds, "We had a reunion dinner like a month ago at Donna Roth's house. We do this all the time. Jen and I have stayed close friends, but like all of us have stayed in touch and we all root for each other. Maybe I don't see someone for a long time, but we're all just out there rooting for each other."
